AN IMAGINARY FIELD GUIDE TO RENFREWSHIRE’S WATERWAYS

‘An Imaginary Field Guide To Renfrewshire’s Waterways’ is a family friendly audio and visual arts trail that re-imagines the plants, wildlife and animals that dwell on the Paisley to Lochwinnoch Cycle Path through a surrealist lens.

5 authors, storytellers and artists have been invited to write and record a collection of audio field guide entries describing the lesser known, rare and fantastical inhabitants of Renfrewshire’s rivers, lochs and burns.

During Cycle Arts Festival Renfrewshire (August 2021) the public were invited to follow Route 7 of the National Cycle Network between Paisley and Lochwinnoch to view the installation artworks and explore new species of wildlife ready to be discovered on the cycle route. At each stop cyclists could discover an illustrated engraving of a creature accompanied by a QR code which when scanned by phone played an audio field guide entry.

Featuring contributions from artists including Kirstin Innes, Raman Mundair, Mara Menzies, Sita Pieraccini and Bex Anson.  With specially commissioned illustrations by visual artist Bruno Gallagher and sound design by Robbie Gunn.
